Welcome to our weekly scripting tutorials page.
On this page, we will be publishing new tutorials every week. These are tutorials that show you some of the possibilities with the MTA scripting engine and the Lua programming language, explained in an easy to follow step-by-step fashion, accompanied by at least one video of the script in action.
We hope that you enjoy these tutorials, and we hope they will give you more insight to our scripting engine and it's possibilities.
Remember that these tutorials are fairly technical. If you just want a quick look, be sure to watch the video.
Hi, Ransom here. I created this script out of love for Command and Conquer (started it a few months back, it wasn't influenced by upcoming sequel's release! I'm a diehard fan!). Since "Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars" was released for the U.S. today, I wanted to share this tutorial today. C&C3 is the end to the epic story that started in 1995 (12 years ago!), and the C&C franchise is one of my favorite series/games of all time. Needless to say, I have high expectations for the C&C3 storyline. Go get it Command and Conquer fans!
This tutorial will show you how to create an imitation of the ion cannon and the nuclear warhead from the original "Command and Conquer '95" game. I Hope you enjoy seeing some of the more abstract ideas that MTA's scripting system has made possible to implement into MTA:SA!

This tutorial will show you how to create a bomb shop with the Lua functions. The 4 different bombs in this script are accessed through a sphere (doughnut ring on the round) for cars in the bomb shop, which is located north of the Los Santos airport.
The 4 bombs featured in this video are 1. The remote control bomb 2. Time bomb 3. Engine start bomb 4. Weight bomb (triggers with a # of people in the car)

This week's tutorial is how to make a King of the Hill gamemode. The example KOTH script here will monitor a zone (the hill) and give points to a person when they occupy it alone. Every second they remain in the zone, they recieve 1 point. After a certain time limit, the game is over and the person with the highest score wins.

This week's tutorials focuses on Text Displays. Aeron's tutorial last week brushed upon this last week. This week I intend to make it clear about the system of text displays, and show their flexibility.
So what exactly is the script? It's a portion (only a portion, we may show the rest of the script at a later stage) of my Unreal Tournament script. It basically copies all our favourite messages that would appear on screen when events such as killing enemies happened.
